Pirmin Huber
Techno and Ländler have a lot in common
The Swiss double bass player Pirmin Huber is a versatile composer and sound artist who has established himself in contemporary new Swiss folk music and live electronic music. He also skillfully stages instruments such as the Büchel (a small alphorn). He shapes folk music in a completely new way. Pirmin Huber combines swiss folk music with techno, jazz, classical or electronic elements.
With his double bass, electric double bass, Büchel or Ableton Push, he performs in various formations at public and private concerts within Switzerland and abroad. At his concerts he captivates his audiences with his open, charming personality and his outstanding musical skills.
As a music educator, he gives private lessons, teaches at several schools and conducts workshops for jazz, traditional and new swiss folk music. He also participates in radio and television performances and in various recording productions.
Pirmin Huber has been experimenting with various instruments since his early childhood and has won prizes at several competitions. Since 2011 he has been focusing on his career as an independent, professional double bass player.
In 2016, he completed a master's degree in jazz studies, composition as a side subject by Dieter Ammann, with outstanding marks at HSLU Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Music. In 2016, he was the youngest composer to receive the honourable commission from ProHelvetia to compose a work for the "Laendlerorchester 2016" at the "Stubete am See".
In 2020 he received a contribution by Foundation Suisa for the "Get Going!" prize for his project "Alone". An interview of the project "Alone" was documented and filmed by arttv.ch.
2021 he was awarded by the canton Schwyz with a contribution to his musical work.
